Sacrifice

Rituals that take part under the sun and where there is no restriction for participation. Everyone can be a part of those rituals, as they are deeply traditional, in a way that anyone is acceptable. In Mandamado of Mytiline, “Kourmpani”, is an ancient ritual, where the bull is butchered to honor the Archangel Michael and its blood is given to humans as an amulet. The longevity of the ceremony is depicted through the faces of the people that participate in it. As so, in those photographs is portrayed mostly the human presence in the process, which is the one that keeps this tradition so alive.
